Toru ISHIKAWA is a senior partner of ORION I.P.O and manages a biotechnology and pharmaceutical team in Sagamihara office. His practice focuses on Patent prosecution, Opposition, Patent Infringement opinion, Patentability opinion, Freedom-to-operate analysis and Due diligence in the areas of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

Toru has experience in various fields including molecular biology, cell culturing, diagnostics, antibodies, polypeptides, vaccines, drug delivery system, nucleic acid probes, pharmaceutical compounds, pharmaceutical composition with new medical use and medical devices.

Toru started his legal career at a major leading patent firm in Tokyo and handled lots of pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications of American and European companies. In addition, Toru stayed at a patent firm in Washington DC as a trainee and then worked for South California office of a major American patent firm. Owing to these experiences, Toru has been providing Non-Japanese clients with good services for obtaining their patents and protecting their rights in intellectual property field.
