Akira SAWADA is an Partner in ORION I.P.O.’s Sagamihara office. Akira’s practice focuses on Patent prosecution, Opposition, Patent Infringement opinion, Patentability opinion, Freedom-to-operate analysis and Due diligence in the areas of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and chemistry. He also has experience in large IP due diligence activities relating to product and corporate transactions against a large Japanese company.
Before beginning his legal career, Akira obtained his Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from Iwate University, where he studied synthesis of complex organic molecules including sulfur and completed synthesis of complex sulfide organic compounds. In addition, he obtained his Ph.D in Physical Biology from Kitasato University, wherein he studied Proteome analysis, developed new processes for identifying Biomarkers and found new and important Biomarkers of cancer and diabetes.
